Tea time in Shanghai
THE CUVÉE LAUNCH, CHINA
March 9, 2022 | ELEMENT: life, water | editorial | 5 minute read

It is always a particular interest and joy to see drinkers to whom terroir is already a familiar concept connect with it through our terroir-driven whiskies.

So we were delighted to see The Cuvée launched in China at the Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental Resort in a ceremony that highlighted the parallel effects of terroir in barley and in tea leaves. It’s simple really – whatever the plant may be, the three-dimensional impact of land, soil and climate on the place a plant is grown will directly affect the flavours that plant will produce.s

What a delight to see our friends in Shanghai respond so enthusiastically to our quest to unearth whisky’s most natural flavours. For our most layered, symphonic whisky they even put on a small orchestra!

Enormous thanks to David Ding and his team for pulling such a wonderful event together.
